Waku Inoue
Born in Tokyo and raised in the natural surroundings of Shimoina District, Nagano Prefecture, Waku Inoue developed a deep connection with wood and handcrafts from an early age. At 14, he discovered bamboo craft and honed his skills under master artisans in Kyushu. After years of training, he began creating and selling works under the name Aotake Crafts TIKUYU, exploring the potential of bamboo as everyday tools.
Inoue’s creations are based on the traditional Aotake craft technique, which uses bamboo in its natural green state, while incorporating modern touches such as leather, wood, and treated bamboo. Drawing inspiration from agricultural and culinary tools, he combines inherited techniques with contemporary design to create bamboo crafts suited for modern life.
Each piece highlights the natural beauty and strength of bamboo, blending seamlessly into daily life while conveying the warmth and skill of handcraftsmanship. Through our online store, you can experience Waku Inoue’s Aotake crafts and bring a piece of this traditional yet modern bamboo artistry into your home.
